
Farmers Bank celebrates 150th anniversary

The bank received its charter as the Logansport Building and Loan Association on March 31, 1925.

Henry Schrage founded the institution as the Bank of Whiting on April 21, 1895.

Among the ranks of IBA-member banks, 87 have been in operation for 100 years or longer.

Originally established as the West Side Building Loan and Savings Association on Oct. 20, 1904, by a group of prominent businessmen, the bank’s first branch is still in operation as a banking center today.

Bath State Bank celebrated its centennial anniversary in June with bank staff and more than 1,000 customers at a local fairground.

The two organizations became First Bank Midwest effective July 1, 2026.
