What was your first job, and what did you learn from it?
My first job was in my family’s grocery store in eastern Ohio, where I learned that customer experience is shaped by small details — greeting customers, keeping a clean apron, stocking and facing shelves, and sweeping floors. Those early lessons in hospitality, consistency and pride in your work shaped how I lead today. The way people feel when they walk through the door still matters just as much in banking as it did in our store.

What drew you to banking?
Banking blends relationship building, problem solving and meaningful community impact. I loved the idea of helping people and businesses move forward by understanding their goals and earning their trust. Over time, I realized banking isn’t about transactions — it’s about relationships, genuine care and walking alongside people as they grow.
What recent professional challenge taught you an important lesson, and how did you overcome it?
A recent challenge involved leading teams through significant change. It reinforced that clarity and communication create stability. By listening first, defining priorities and aligning expectations, we built trust and momentum. The experience strengthened our collaboration and reminded me that people move through change more confidently when they understand the “why.”
How do you stay innovative and forward-thinking in an ever-evolving industry?
I stay curious — about technology, customer expectations, risk, efficiency and how people work today. I’m always asking, “Is there a better way?” and encouraging my team to do the same. Innovation doesn’t have to be flashy to be meaningful; sometimes innovation is simply shaping the experience so it feels easier, clearer or more helpful for the customer.
In your opinion, what is the most exciting trend or development in banking right now?
I’m energized by the shift toward relationship-driven digital banking. New tools in cash management, fraud prevention and data insights allow us to protect and guide customers more proactively. Technology is enhancing — not replacing — the human connection community banks are built on, and that’s an exciting evolution.

If you weren’t a banker, what would you do for a living?
If I weren’t in banking, I’d be farming. My family has farmed for generations, and I love being outside and working in the dirt. Farming fits the values I hold close — stewardship, consistency, hard work and taking the long view as things grow over time.
Who or what inspires you?
I’m inspired most by my faith, which keeps me grounded and guides how I lead. My family motivates me to use my time and gifts well. And I’m inspired daily by my co‑workers at First Bank of Berne who quietly do good work with consistency and heart.

What is the thing you have done/accomplished, professionally or personally, that you are the most proud of?
Professionally, I’m proud of building teams that collaborate, support one another and believe in doing the right things for customers. Strong teams create strong outcomes – for the people we serve and for the bank. Personally, I’m proud of raising thoughtful, grounded teenagers and teaching them responsibility, gratitude and a strong work ethic. Leading well at home and at work matters deeply to me.
What’s your go-to comfort food?
Homemade bread with butter – especially my Grandma Connie’s recipe.
What do you do for fun when you’re not working?
When I’m not working, I love cooking, hosting and getting outside to work in my garden – it’s my favorite way to unwind. I spend a lot of time cheering on my kids and going on adventures with my close circle of friends.
