Horizon Bank, Michigan City, recognized four of its bankers with its 2025 Go Beyond Community Service Award in September. The award recognizes employees who have significantly contributed to the communities they serve through going beyond by their active volunteerism, leadership and contributions.

Piotrowski

Dee Piotrowski, vice president, senior technical project manager, was honored for her ongoing commitment to serving both inside the bank and throughout the community. She has lent her time and energy to countless causes, including Run for Hope for suicide awareness, SAG stops for the Tour de La Porte, and the Dragonboat Races supporting Dunebrook.

“I’m deeply grateful for this recognition,” Piotrowski said. “Volunteering is something I do because I care deeply about our community and the people in it. Knowing that my efforts have made a positive impact truly means a lot to me. Thank you for this honor and for valuing my acts of service.”

Beals

Jessica Beals, Treasury management officer, received the award for her tireless involvement in the Gaylord community since 2022. She’s described as someone who always looks for ways to bring people together, frequently working behind the scenes to create meaningful experiences that showcase her commitment, creativity and heart for her community.

“Thank you for the honor of receiving the Go Beyond Community Service Award,” she said. “Being involved in the Gaylord community has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my journey. It’s the priceless smiles on the faces of our youth that makes the hard work of volunteering all worthwhile.”

Nacht

Pleya Nacht, assistant vice president, branch manager, was honored for her dedication to Munster, where she has volunteered, raised funds, chaired events and championed causes close to her heart, including Heroes Helping Heroes and the Merrillville Civitan Club.

“I’m truly honored and humbled to receive this award. Giving back to my community and supporting causes such as these means the world to me. It’s never about the spotlight, it’s about doing what I can to make a difference.,” Nacht said.

Shelley

Josh Shelley, vice president, district manager, was also presented with the award for his many contributions and his unwavering dedication to his community. He actively supports local businesses through chambers of commerce in Columbus and Franklin while also serving seniors through his involvement with Mill Race and volunteering at Habitat for Humanity build sites. For him, giving back is not just an activity, it’s part of who he is.

“Being involved in the community has been incredibly rewarding and I’ve been fortunate to work alongside so many passionate, dedicated people who inspire me every day,” Shelley said.
