Syd Loomis retired from The Farmers Bank, Frankfort, in September, after a 45-year career in community banking.

He started in 1980 as a 19-year-old teller at The American National Bank of Noblesville, which would eventually go on to be part of KeyBank NA, Cleveland. Over the next four decades, he worked through five bank buyouts and nine banking names, eventually joining The Farmers Bank in 2010. Just a few months later, he opened the bank’s Noblesville financial center, where he served until his retirement.
Loomis’ retirement was celebrated in part by U.S. Rep. Victoria Spartz, R-Ind., honoring him with a statement from the floor of the U.S. House.
Most of Loomis’ career was spent on the retail side of banking as a branch manager and consumer lender. He also placed a heavy emphasis on developing the next generation of bankers.
Outside the bank, he performed in more than 25 community theatre productions since 1999 and served as a past board member of the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce, and treasurer of Hamilton Heights Youth Assistance Program and Hamilton County Shepherd’s Center.
