Wright started working at Upland Bank in 1952. His career spanned more than 60 years as a principal owner and executive leader, ultimately serving as president and chairman of the board, helping shape the institution into what would become STAR Bank, Fort Wayne.

“Bob never stopped caring about this organization or the people within it,” said Jim Marcuccilli, chairman & CEO of STAR Bank. “His wisdom, humility, and steady presence left a lasting impact on all of us. Our thoughts are with the Wright family during this difficult time.”

Wright was married to his wife, Phyllis, for 70 years, with whom he raised six children. His son is a former president and current vice chairman at STAR; one of his grandsons, Kevin Wright, is currently president; and a grandson-in-law, Eric Palmer, is a senior business analyst.

A lifelong cowboy at heart, he was an accomplished calf and team roper, co-founder of the Indiana Ropers and Doggers Association, and an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by his six children, 22 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
