John Bowen passed away March 28. He was 91 years old.
Bowen spent 45 years working in and around the banking industry. Bowen served as a bank examiner for the state of Indiana for 10 years, president of the First Bank of Charlestown (now part of Chase Bank, New York) for 15 years; president of NWSB, Charlestown, for 15 years; and remained as a member of NWSB’s board for another five years after retirement from his daily duties.
He also served as a regional president for the Indiana Bankers Association, president of the New Hope School, a board member for the North Clark Community Hospital and a 20-year member of the Charlestown Lions Club.
