Larry Myers has joined the board of First Merchants Bank, Muncie, following its acquisition of First Savings Bank, Jeffersonville.

Larry Myers has joined the boards of First Merchants Bank, Muncie, and its holding company, First Merchants Corporation. The move comes after First Savings Bank, Jeffersonville, which he led as president & CEO for nearly 20 years, officially merged into First Merchants on Feb. 1.

“Mr. Myers brings extensive banking experience and a proven leadership record that will enhance our Boards’ strategic and governance capabilities,” said Board Chair Jean Wojtowicz.

CEO Mark K. Hardwick added, “Larry’s perspective as a seasoned community bank executive will be an important addition to our boardroom….We are pleased that southern Indiana will continue to have a significant voice as part of our expanded footprint.”

Myers’ career includes decades of experience in community banking, credit management and regional economic development. During his tenure at First Savings, Myers served as chairman of the Indiana Bankers Association and on the board of the American Bankers Association. He currently serves as vice chair of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis. He earned both a bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Kentucky.
