Four IBA members were named top community banks by S&P Global Market Intelligence, and five made the list for publicly traded banks.

Centier Bank, Merrillville, was named a Top 10 community bank by S&P Global Market Intelligence, an IBA associate member. Centier came in at #8 among community banks with $3 billion-$10 billion in assets in the company’s annual rankings.

The list was compiled based on eight metrics:

  1. pretax return on average assets;
  2. net interest margin;
  3. efficiency ratio;
  4. 3-year average operating revenue change;
  5. 8-quarter average deposit change;
  6. nonperforming assets and loans 90 days or more past due as a percentage of total assets;
  7. net charge-offs-to-average loans and leases ratio; and
  8. adjusted tangible common equity-to-tangible assets ratio.

Also making the list were:

  • #25: 1st Source Bank, South Bend
  • #32: Stock Yards Bank & Trust Company, Louisville
  • #46: German American Bank, Jasper

Members recognized in the publicly traded banks category include:

  • #10: Merchants Bank, Carmel
  • #25: First Financial Bank, Cincinnati
  • #34: Chase Bank, New York
  • #40: Old National Bank, Evansville
  • #49: First Merchants Bank, Muncie
