Lake City Bank, Warsaw, in partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis, announced $25,000 awarded in scholarships to 24 students at Elkhart High School through the Money Masters Scholarship Program at the end of the 2025-2026 school year. This initiative is designed to promote financial literacy and empower the next generation with essential money management skills.
Lake City Bank team members led curriculum across two days sharing key personal finance concepts such as budgeting, saving, credit, identity protection and investing to help students prepare for life beyond high school. Students wrote essays describing how the skills will support their future goals and 24 were chosen to receive scholarships. In total, 59 students completed the program.
“Our students thoroughly enjoyed the financial literacy presentations provided by Lake City Bank, which offered practical advice for our seniors as they prepare for their post-secondary paths,” said Phil Shults, executive principal of Elkhart High School. “Seeing 24 of our students earn these scholarships to help fuel their dreams is wonderful. These awards give each of them a great jump start toward achieving their goals, and we are deeply grateful to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis and Lake City Bank for investing so generously in our students’ futures.”
Funding for the scholarships is made possible through Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis, whose support helps local financial institutions deliver meaningful community development initiatives.
“Fiscal health is just as critical as physical health, and that’s why FHLBank Indianapolis has stepped forward to help educate the next generations in our district,” said MaryBeth Wott, FHLBI senior vice president, community investment and strategic planning officer. “Support from our members is a critical component of the Money Masters program, and Lake City Bank is among those who have embraced our efforts. We’re proud to partner with them as leaders in teaching financial principles and skills.”
