Mike O’Connor retired from the board of Alliance Bank, Francesville, in January, after 10 years as a director and more than 40 years in Indiana’s banking industry.
O’Connor retired as an employee of the bank in 2019 after 24 years of service, ending as chief lending officer. He continued serving on the board after retiring from daily duties, serving as vice chairman since July 2020. Throughout his career, he was known for his deep credit knowledge, steady leadership, and commitment to mentoring future bankers.
“For more than 30 years, Mike strengthened Alliance Bank with his credit knowledge and steady leadership,” said Alliance Bank President Shane Pilarski. “On a personal level, his guidance defined my early career and instilled the values of true community banking.”
In recognition of his service, the bank established the Mike O’Connor Service in Lending Award upon his retirement in 2019. It’s presented annually to a team member who embodies the bank’s core values and demonstrates exemplary service to both clients and colleagues.
O’Connor is a founding member of Friends of Panhandle Pathway and the Community Foundation of Pulaski County, a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, a 40-year member of the Winamac Kiwanis Club and a member of the IBA’s 40 Year Club.
