Revisiting the economic value of equity

Bank balance sheets were adversely affected in multiple ways by the speed and magnitude of the rising rate environment in 2022. The problems had nothing to do with asset quality, poor lending practices or anything credit related; they were entirely a function of the mathematics of rising interest rates. Protecting your customers from elder financial abuse

Seniors lose approximately $3 billion every year as a result of financial fraud schemes, many of which are perpetrated by a friend or family member. Banks should maintain heightened sensitivity around transactions that involve elderly clients, particularly if these clients have historically managed their own finances and may be exhibiting signs of cognitive decline.
